Recycling
It is the company policy of Select-A-Skip UK Ltd to ensure that all waste removed from our clients' sites is taken to the best practical licensed point of transfer/disposal or Materials Recycling Facilities (MRF), in the most environmentally favourable option available. All waste is removed by fully licensed waste carriers.
In partnership with our customers and suppliers, Select-A-Skip endeavor to encourage recycling and waste minimisation. We have access to a number of Materials Recycling Facilities (MRF) across the country to ensure that wherever possible our clients waste is sorted and re-cycled, thus reducing the volume of waste being landfilled.
Amongst others, the most practical waste streams to be recycled/re-used are as follows:
Hardcore - can be crushed and re-used as ballast Timber - can be chipped and re-used forming the basic material used in manufacturing chip board and other similar products Metals - can be taken to a scrap metal merchants, melted down and re-used to manufacture new products Cardboard - can be sorted baled and transported to mills for re-pulping Plastics - must be sorted into type and transported to mills. Examples of it's re-use are dustbin liners and garden furniture etc.
On average a professionally operated waste transfer station (MRF) will recycle 70-80% of waste in some cases up to 90%.
