Select's very own Alice Wheeler continues her quest to Solheim Cup glory. Having only recently turned 18, Alice is currently the junior captain for Oswestry, only the second female in over 100 years to hold this position, taking part in all their scratch and handicap league games. She also represents her county in the Girls first team, and the Ladies second team. In a recent inter-club tournament, where the top 8 scores qualify for a knock out stage to determine the overall champion, Alice was victorious and saw her name 'up in lights', when she was awarded the President's Bowl for her achievement.
After successfully navigating 8 knockout rounds in the Daily Mail Foursomes, Alice and her partner, just missed out on winning the title at the last hole on the final day. Alice has also participated in the Midlands Girls Championships and the Shropshire Girls Championships resulting in a placing of 2nd overall. Due to play in the finals of the Club Championships on September 14th 2008, and with all her previous successes behind her, Alice is well on her way to emulating Annika Sorenstam....... so remember the name!
