What's in your skip?
23-12-2009 12:36:39
Were you aware that even if you are just ordering a skip on behalf of your guys on site, it is your legal responsibility to inform us of the exact waste that will be placed in each skip?
If certain waste types are placed in skips that we are not made aware of beforehand, not only will extra cost be incurred but you personally also run the far more serious risk of prosecution and resultant fine or worse!!
With climate change and the resultant stringent laws, the Environment Agency are now understandably, more determined than ever to ensure waste is handled legally and safely.
Please be assured that this is the reason we always ask you what waste is going in the skip.... it's not to annoy you! Whilst we are licenced to arrange the disposal of any waste you may generate, below is a list of the more common items that under no circumstances should be placed in skips without us being informed beforehand and relevant costs confirmed:
asbestos, plasterboard, ANY electrical item, tyres, paint tins, flourescent light tubes, mattresses, artificial/synthetic turf, batteries, gas canisters, food waste, liquid waste, tree roots, japanese knotweed, pigeon fouling and many more!!
So if you are ordering any skip, be it a delivery or an exchange, please ensure you know exactly what is going in it, as we will always ask!
if you have any of the above waste types to dispose of, or indeed any waste type you are unsure of, please contact our hazardous waste specialist Dan Feeney on 01743-342278 or dan@selectaskip.co.uk
